Cisna, Joe (Attempted Suicide – 17
Feb 1916)
Joe Cisna, a farmer living east of town, attempted suicide
early Thursday morning, and up to the time of going to press was still in a
precarious condition with very small chance of recovery, being still
unconscious. He was found between the house and the barn by one of his hired
men. The rifle, a high-power repeater, was found under him. The bullet went in
at the right temple and came out at the tip of the head, inflicting a ghastly
wound. He had evidently lain there some time and no one had heard the shot
fired. Dr. Moore of this place was called and everything was done for him that
could be. His wife was visiting at the home of her mother and he and the hired
man were alone. It is reported that domestic infelicity was the reason for the
attempt at suicide. – Merrillan Leader
