Funeral services were held Thursday at 2
p.m. from the united Methodist Church in Chili for Henry Nebel, 89, of Chili who
died April 26. The Rev. Lloyd L. McCormick officiated and burial was made in the
parish cemetery.
Pallbearers were Lowell Roehl, Elgin Roehl, Erlin
Roehl, James Lee, Dennis Lee, and Larry Dix. “Beautiful Land” and “Going down
the Valley One by One” were sung by a male quartet consisting of Don Bersell,
Marlyn Lindow, Jeff Lindow and Roy Jennings, and accompanied by Mrs. Albert
Grimm.
Mr. Nebel was born October 7, 1880, in Hanover, Germany. At the
age of 12 he came with his parents to the United States and settled near Oswego,
Ill. Two years later he moved to the Chili area and had lived there since that
time. He was married to Ida Lindow in Marshfield, December 20, 1906. She
preceded him in death August 28, 1961. They farmed in the Town of Fremont until
retiring and moving into Chili.
Survivors include two daughters, Mrs.
Freida Roehl of Loyal and Mrs. Marion (Mildred) Lee of Chili; a brother,
Ferdinand Nebel of Lomira; seven grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
The Gilbertson Funeral Home of Granton was in charge of the arrangements.
