On Saturday the thermometer
registered 102 degrees in the shade.
Joe Mack of Loyal started the
digging for the schoolhouse well.
Rev. James Jefferson went to Chicago
for medical treatment.
At a special meeting of the school board it was
voted to build a new schoolhouse and establish a graded school in District No.
1.
Plans and specifications for the new Presbyterian Church were placed
in the hands of Free & Phillips.
The creamery had a close call from
destruction by fire, originating from a spark from the smoke stack. It was put
out before much damage had been done.
The estimated Population of
Greenwood was placed at about 600.
Fire at Camp Douglas destroyed 32
buildings. The loss was estimated at $100,000.
