Humbird (Two Missing Girls - 14 May 1970)
Information
concerning two Humbird girls, who have been missing from their homes since 6:30
p.m. May 3, is being sought by Clark County Sheriff’s officers.
“We have
reason to believe they have been in the Chicago area, and are alive,” said an
officer. “We have been unable to track them there, or to learn of their
whereabouts since that time.”
The missing girls are Lee Ann Van Kirk,
15, and Alice Scheneker, 16. They dropped out of sight after being let out in
Humbird to attend a meeting of their church young folks group.
Authorities are requesting that anyone who might have seen them after that time
get in touch with the sheriff’s office.
Miss Van Kirk is described as
being five feet, four inches tall; 125 pounds; with a dark medium long wig worn
over short brown hair; brown eyes; and wearing a navy blue jacket and navy blue
bell-bottom pants. Miss Scheneker is described as five feet, eight inches tall;
130 pounds; long, blonde hair; slender build; blue eyes; and wearing striped
white and wine colored slacks and a blue shirt.
