Miss Jessica Margaret Heldt, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Herman
L. Heldt of Owen was united in marriage at 2:30 p.m. May 9 at First
Congregational Church in Owen, to Michael Glen Purgett, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ray
Purgett of Owen. The Rev. Peterson performed the double ring ceremony in the
presence of approximately 185 guests.
The bride was attired in a floor
length gown trimmed in white lace and wearing an elbow length veil as she
approached the altar. She carried a bouquet of red roses.
Mrs. Nadine
Churky, matron-of-honor and Mrs. Norm Thieme, bridesmaid, wore pink floor length
gowns and carried pink carnations.
Maynard Purgett served as bestman, and
Norm Thieme as groomsman. Ushers were Ralph Stark of Owen and Kenneth Churky of
Spencer.
A reception was held in the Congregational Church hall,
decorated with pink and white streamers and wedding bells, with pink candles on
the tables.
The bride graduated from Owen-Withee high School in 1969 and
the groom attended the same school as that of the bride. Mrs. Purgett is working
for the A & W root beer stand in Owen and he is employed by Foremost in Owen.
The couple is now residing on Rt. 2 Owen.
