Mrs. Hazel Helwig returned Monday after
spending 10 days in Eau Claire visiting relatives and friends.
Carl
Keiner and Sharon Black of Eau Claire, and Mr and Mrs. Charles McCann and
children, Thomas, Ann and Dale, of Minneapolis, spent Friday at the home of
their mother and grandmother, Mrs. Christ Keiner, and at the Hugh Severson home.
The Women’s Guild met Thursday afternoon in Zion United Church. Mrs.
Theodore Bel presided. Hostesses were Mrs. Abel, Mrs. Adolph Abel, Mrs. Paul
Acker and Mrs. Richard Acker. Thank yous were received from Mrs. Ida Horn and
Mrs. Christ Keiner. Mrs. Theodore Abel and Mrs. Arthur Hendrickson reported on
the Northwest association women’s meeting and workshop they attended at Eau
Claire. Mrs. Lee Corey gave readings, “Walking in Christ,” “Origin of Mother’s
Day”: and two spring poems. Miss Louise Keiner read an article “Why Children go
wrong.” The next meeting will be held June 4.
Mrs. John Zallar has
returned to her home in Willard from Memorial Hospital in Neillsville.
Miss Idagene Meinholdt and her fiancé, Dan Simonson, of Madison spent the
weekend with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Meinholdt.
Mr. and Mrs.
Hans Kolpanen of Milwaukee spent the weekend at the Oscar Meinholdt home and
attended the bridal shower held in honor of their niece, Idagene Meinholdt, at
the home of Mrs. Elvera Fravert.
Miss Melva Afkind visited Monday
evening at the Thomas Erickson and Mrs. Edwin Hegenbarth homes.
Guests
Sunday at the Robert Stewart home were Mr. and Mrs. Richard Korn, Paul, Diane
and Ricky, Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Stewart and sons, Robbie and Tom, all of Eau
Claire, Miss Mary Joan Stewart of la Crosse, and Tom Felton of Menomonie.
Robert Stewart of Stanley spent Wednesday at the home of his parents Mr. and
Mrs. Robert Stewart.
Mr. and Mrs. Pat Worth and family and Mr. and Mrs.
Leland Mayenschien and family of Milwaukee were weekend guests at the homes of
their parents, Mr. and Mrs. James McConnell and Mr. and Mrs. Curtis Mayenschien.
The American legion auxiliary will meet Monday evening, May 18, in the
Legion hall. Election of officers will be held. Poppy posters will be judged.
Plans for Poppy Days, May 22 and 23, will be completed. Hostesses will be Mrs.
Charles Hare, Mrs. Erwin Grap, Mrs. Harry Gordee, Mrs. George Hare and Mrs.
Hazel Helwig.
