Novak Family
(Reunion - 3 August 2013)
A family reunion of Joseph and Josephine Novak
and their four children: Kasimer, Thomas, Anton and Kathryn, who came to the
United States, shortly after 1900 and settled in the Chicago area and later
moved to other areas was held recently. Several of the ancestors are buried in
the Hatfield Cemetery and Oakwood Cemetery at Merrillan.
Many families
of the descendants of Joseph and Josephine Novak’s sons who lived in the Bruce
Mound area (Clark County) and other areas were among those who came together on
Saturday, August 3, 2013, at Russell Memorial Park on Lake Arbutus at Hatfield,
WI (what a beautiful day for a reunion). The daughter, Kathryn’s families who
live mainly in Chicago and suburbs of Illinois and scattered areas of Wisconsin,
were also in attendance.
These family reunions were started by Dale and
Nhoria Johnson of one of the Novak descendants’ lineage three years ago, each
year the reunions are growing larger expanding as we are getting in contact with
more of the cousins. On August 3, 2013, approximately 85-90 people were in
attendance for a great potluck meal, lots of visiting, picture taking, games and
fun, lots of time spent looking at family picture boards and photo albums;
everyone had a good time and plan to be back again next August at the same
location and many more known other cousins surely will be invited and shall be
in attendance.
There were family members in attendance from Neillsville,
Merrillan, Alma Center, Marshfield, Black River Falls, Augusta, Fall Creek,
Oxford and other points in Wisconsin, and from many cities in Illinois and
perhaps from other states. Anyone else if your city was missed sorry you did not
leave addresses with us. Facebook and Internet were our great ways of getting
connected to notify family members. Next year we will also use USPS.
