Jake, William Harry Jr. (23 September 1913 - 23 May 1970)
William Harry Jake, Jr., 56, of Neillsville, was dead on arrival at Memorial
Hospital, Saturday, May 23. Funeral services were held Tuesday from the Georgas
Funeral Home at 1:30 p.m. The Rev. William Duschek officiated and burial was
made in the Neillsville City Cemetery.
Mr. Jake was born September 23,
1913 in Westfield, to William and Mable (Haskins) Jake, Sr. he received his
education here and graduated from Neillsville High School. On November 27, 1937,
he was married to the former Blanche M. West in Neillsville. He worked for the
old Neillsville Bottling Company and during World War II was employed at the
Badger Ordnance Company. He was employed by the Neillsville Milk Products
Cooperative for 18 years; worked for the Model Laundry and the Neillsville Dairy
and more recently was employed at the Nelson Muffler Corporation.
He was
a member of the Neillsville Volunteer Fire Department for 22 years and would
have retired as a fireman Monday evening.
Survivors include his wife; a
son, Steve; and a daughter, Mrs. James (Jacelyn) Schecklman, both of
Neillsville; his father, William Jake, Sr.; four sisters, Mrs. Dorothy Wallace
of Neillsville, Mrs. Dana (Iva) Albee of Cambria, Mrs. Wilbur (Ina) Turner of
Kirkland, Ill., and Mrs. Roger (Margaret) Riley of Hortonville; two brothers,
Orville Jake of Neillsville and Harley Jake of Steilacoom, Wash.; and three
grandchildren.
