Humbird (28 May 1970)
Mrs. Harriette Gorst received word Thursday night
that her grandson, Fred Colwell of Hixton, had a car accident, trying to avoid
striking a deer. He suffered a broken arm and other injuries.
Mr. and
Mrs. Tom McCready of Menomonie were weekend guests at the home of their daughter
and husband, Mr. and Mrs. Art Laffe.
Mrs. Pearl Johnson drove to Sin
Prairie Saturday afternoon to be a guest of her daughter, Mrs. Fred Olson, and
family. Sunday they drove to the Karl Johnson home in Kenosha and attended the
confirmation of Mrs. Johnson’s grandson.
Wednesday, Mrs. Harriette Gorst,
accompanied by Mrs. Maude Newton and Mrs. Maude Kirby, drove to Marshfield to
attend the funeral of John Mills. Others from here attending were Mr. and Mrs.
Mel Markham, Mrs. Raymond Stuve and Nordahl Fristad.
William Lintcher of
Whitewater was here Thursday attending to business affairs of the old canning
factory.
Mrs. Evelyn Castner and Mrs. Heding are hospital patients for
care and treatment.
Mrs. Maude Newton was a dinner and afternoon guest
Sunday at the Thane Joos home in rural Alma Center.
Mr and Mrs. Al
Raymond came home Saturday night from their winter’s stay in Florida. Mr.
Raymond, who had recently been in the hospital stood the trip well. Mrs.
Raymond’s son, George Shaffer of Minnesota met their plane and drove them here.
Mr. and Mrs. Bob Fitzmaurice and children of Augusta spent Sunday with
the home folks.
Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Staves and children of St. Paul spent
the weekend at the Donald Staves and Lyle Newell homes.
Mrs. Ida Holman
came Friday from her home in Osseo to spend several days with her daughter, Mrs.
Elmer Duerkop.
Mr. and Mrs. Henry Laffe attended the dedication of the
new educational unit of the united Methodist Church in Neillsville Sunday. They
also visited Mrs. Mary Iffland in Neillsville and Mrs. Laffe’s brother, Ben
Clouse, in the Marshfield hospital.
