Capt Eugene Smigelski, son-in-law of Mr. and Mrs.
Richard Albrecht of Neillsville, is a member of the Perrin AFB, Tex., unit that
has been selected as the best aircraft maintenance organization in the air
force.
Capt Smigelski is an avionics officer with the 4780th Air Defense
Wing, winner of the 1969 Daedalian Maintenance trophy.
It marks the first
time an Aero-space Defense Command (ADC) unit has won the stiff Air Force-wide
competition for the annual award, which was established by the Order of
Daedalians, an organization founded -by World War I pilots.
Wing
personnel were cited for outstanding performance in supporting aircraft,
including F-102 Delta Dagger fighter-interceptors, used in training ADC aircrews
that help protect the United States against aerial attack.
The captain, a
1956 graduate of Pulaski High School at Milwaukee, earned his Bachelor of
Science degree from Stout State University-Menomonie.
