Wayne Hans #2 (14 JUN 1903 – 16 MAR 1979)
Wayne Hans Kolpanen, 75, Colby, died March 16 at his home.
Mr. Kolpanen was born June 14, 1903 in Finland. He came to the United States in 1912, settling in Owen where he received his education.
He was married August 22, 1936 at Wauwatosa. In 1927 he moved to Milwaukee, where he was employed by Oil Gear Co. for 43 years. He retired in 1969 and moved to Colby in November 1977.
He was a member of Oil Gear Retiree Club, United Church of Christ in Milwaukee and its church council for twelve years. He was an officer of Church Brotherhood many years.
Survivors include his wife; four brothers, Uno of Owen, Roy of Milwaukee, Reins of golden Colorado, and William of Marshfield; a sister, Mrs. Arthur (Elizabeth) Himes of Owen.
Funeral services were held March 19 from the
Immanuel United Church of Christ in Greenwood. The Rev. Kenneth A. Dix, pastor
of the First United Church of Christ of Colby, officiated. Burial was in the
Westside cemetery in Greenwood.
Pallbearers were Leonard and Eugene Himes,
Dr. John Kolpanen, Jerome Kolpanen, Mark Fravert and Theodore Meinholdt.
Mrs. Margaret Schwarze was the organist. Mrs.
Clarence Meinhardt accompanied the church choir for the songs, “How Great Thou
Art” and “In the Garden.”
