Meinholdt, Oscar (Doc) #2 (07 SEP 1907 – 15 AUG 1977)

Oscar (Doc) Meinholdt, 69 of Hendren Ave., Greenwood, died of an apparent heart attack while driving along county trunk G about 10 a.m. Monday, according to Clark County Coroner, Robert Lulloff.

Meinholdt was born September 8;, 1907, in Greenwood where he attended rural schools and graduated from Greenwood High School. He was confirmed at Immanuel United Church of Christ. He was employed by a destruction company in his youth, working in almost every state in the union.

He was married to JoAnn Rosinski, February 2, 1946, in Chicago.

He owned a tavern in Atwood and operated the Legion Hall tavern in Greenwood and taverns at Loyal and Rock Dam.

He worked for Volovsek Cabinet Shop for many years and was also employed by Pathfinder Mobile Homes, Spencer for several years.

Meinholdt was a WW II veteran, serving from March 31, 1942 to November 8, 1945, as a ship’s cook in the U.S. Navy. He was a member of the Wallis Hinker Legion Post, #238 and the Zion United Church of Christ.
He is survived by his widow, one daughter, Mrs. Dan (Idagene) Simonson of Ripon; three brothers, Art, Merrillan, Louis, Neillsville and Ed. Loyal; one sister, Mrs. Hans (Alma) Kolpanen, Milwaukee.

He was preceded in death by four brothers and one sister.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m., Wednesday at the Zion United Church of Christ in Greenwood with burial in the Westside cemetery. The Rev. David Logue, pastor, officiated. Full military rites were in charge of the Wallis-Hinker Legion post.

Pallbearers were Jake Barr, Clifford Rasp, John Kaltinger, Howard Susa, Robert Bogdonovich and Elmer Schuette.
Gary Schultz sang “Just As I Am” and “The Old Rugged Cross,” accompanied on the organ by Mrs. Gary Schultz.

People from away attending were Mr. and Mrs. Dan Simonson, Mrs. Marjorie Simonson and Mrs. Frank Peoples all of Ripon; Mr. and Mrs. Ed Rosinski, Depue, IL; Mr. and Mrs. Leo Mager, Michigan City, IN; Mr. and Mrs. Greg Gron, Berwyn, IL; Mrs. Alma Kolpanen and Mr. and Mrs. Lee Meinholdt and daughter, Sarah, Milwaukee; Mr. and Mrs. Dale Vollrath, Green Bay; Mr. and Mrs. Art Meinholdt and Ted Meinholdt and son, Teddy, Merrillan; Herbert Olson, New London; Mr. and Mrs. Norman Reineking, Colby; Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Schuette, Unity.
