Decker, Mrs. Henry
(Sophia) (19 FEB 1844 – ? AUG 1912)
Mrs. Henry Decker was born Feb. 19th, 1844 at Brosen, Lippe Detmold, Germany. When a young girl she came to the town of Herman, Sheboygan County. She was united in marriage to Mr. Henry Decker on Oct. 13th, 1867. In the year 1870 the Decker family came to this county and settled about three miles west of Greenwood, where they resided until 1902, when they bought their son’s farm in the Braun Settlement. On Dec. 27 she was stricken with paralysis but rallied again and had so far recovered her health to enable her to attend church which she seldom missed. On July 3rd she was again taken sick and she continually grew weaker until she passed away on Aug. the first after reaching the age of 68 years, 5 months and 13 days.
Deceased leaves to mourn her loss an aged
husband, five sons, four daughters, thirty-two grandchildren, three brothers and
one sister, one son preceding the mother in death. As one of the members of the
Reformed Immanuel Congregation of the West Side, she did much toward the up
building of the same. Mrs. Decker was a peaceful companion, a devoted mother and
had a kind word for everybody that came in contact with her. Interment took
place on Aug. 6, with services conducted in the German Reform church by Rev.
Otto Saewert. There was a large attendance and a profusion of flowers, which
shows the high esteem in which she was held by her many friends
