Andrea Hill’s time of 30.1 in the 40
yard breaststroke for 10-and-under girls ranked the first in the nation against
all AAU competion in her class for the 1965 season and was only 1.1 seconds from
the all-time national record of 22.0 seconds set in 1963. The performance, which
broke the Minnesota State AAU record, was turned in last February at the
Minneapolis YMCA swim meet.
Andy also broke the following records in
breaststroke for the 1965 season; Minnesota 50 – yard course (39.5); Manitoba,
Canada 50-meter course (46.00 AND Minnesota 50 meter course (44.3). She also
holds the record for the 55-yard course which established her as fourth
nationally in 1964. All the marks have been officially sanctioned by the AAU.
Andy, 11-year old member of the Eau Claire YMCA Swim Team, is seeking new
honors this year in 11-12 year old class.
She is the daughter of Dr. and
Mrs. E. F. Hill and the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harold Hills.
