Emer, Donna Mae (13 January 1934 - 3 August 2013)

Donna M. Emer, 79, of Humbird passed away Saturday, Aug. 3, 2013, at her home in the loving care of her children and Black River Memorial Hospice. Donna Mae Emer, daughter of Louis and Lillian (Nelson) Primus, was born Jan. 13, 1934, on the Primus family farm, north of Fairchild on Cty H. She attended Sunny Brook Country School and graduated from Fairchild High School in 1952. Following high school, she was employed by the Zimmerman family before taking a job in food service at the Mount Washington Sanitarium and eventually with the Claremont Nursing Home, both in Eau Claire. She was united in marriage to Lawrence Albert Emer Oct. 4, 1969, at St. John’s Catholic Church in Fairchild. Lawrence and Donna lived all their married life on the Emer family farm, where they raised their two children.

After raising her family, she was employed for several years at the Hardees Restaurant in Black River Falls, where, in her district, she was awarded the honor of “Best Hardees Biscuit Maker.” She went on to regional competition in St. Louis, where she received second place. Donna excelled at baking and enjoyed doing it. She also loved gardening, working crossword puzzles and spending time with loved ones. She had a tremendous love for her Lord and Savior with unfaltering faith. She took great comfort and serenity in the many house she spent praying. She truly was an “angel among us”.

Donna will be lovingly remembered and deeply missed by her children - son Peter Emer of Fairchild; daughter Marie (Kurt) Kalberer of Tucson, AZ; six grandchildren, Elizabeth Emer of Wisconsin Dells, Arianna, Emily, Sam, Matthew and Gabby Kalberer, all of Tucson; three sisters, Patricia (Charles) Miller of Sussex, Joan (Gary) Weida of White Fish Bay and Judy (Joe) Geis of Green Valley, AZ; brothers-in-law, Robert (Nancy) Hulett of Neillsville and Bernie (Nancy) Abrahamson of River Falls; Nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence March 17, 2011; parents, Louis April 24, 2004, and Lillian April 26, 2003; and siblings, Peggy Abrahamson and Jerome and Michael Primus.

A funeral mass will be held Thursday, Aug. 8, 2013, at 11 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Fairview, rural Fairchild, with burial in the church cemetery. Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Anderson Funeral Home in Augusta. A rosary service will be recited at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
