Wirkuty, Maureen Carole (15 October 1935 - 15 November 2013)
Maureen
Wirkuty, 78, of Loyal passed away Nov. 15, 2013, at the Golden Living Center in
Marshfield.
Maureen Carole Freezy was born Oct. 15, 1935, in Granton, the
daughter of George and Erna (Lueck) Freezy. She attended Neillsville schools and
was united in marriage to Walter Wirkuty Dec. 8, 1951. They lived in Pittsville
until moving to Eugene, OR. Maureen worked for many years at Central Linn School
in Hasley, OR. They moved to this area, residing in Loyal in 2004, and purchased
the Loyal Drive-In. Walter died in 2006, and Maureen operated the Drive-In until
2012. In her spare time, Maureen enjoyed her horses and reading.
She is
survived by her two sons, Justin Wirkuty of Marshfield and Douglas (Melinda)
Wirkuty of Loyal; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; four brothers,
Ted (Karen) Freezy of Spencer, Alan Freezy of King, Walter Lueck, Jr., of
Huntley, IL, and Bradley (Judy) Lueck of Fountain, CO; and three sisters,
Patrine (Bob) Parks of Huntley, IL, Nellie (Jim) Eckland of McHenry, IL, and
Laynie (Charles) Easer of Huntley, IL. Maureen is also survived by many nieces
and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; a
daughter, Antonette Jane; three sisters, Ilene Freezy, Paulene (Freezy) Timm and
Georgia (Freezy) Ziller; and one brother, Denis Freezy.
Funeral services
for Maureen were held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 19, 2013 at the Gesche Funeral
Home in Neillsville. Pastor Douglas Bjerke officiated. Interment was in the
Neillsville City Cemetery. Visitation was from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday and from
10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Gesche Funeral Home in Neillsville.
Casketbearers were: Douglas Douglas Wirkuty, Justin Wirkuty, Trevor Olson, Tim
Fisher, Kyle Abel and Rick Freezy.
