Opelt, Lyn Carol (Marriage - 19 June 1971)

Miss Lyn Carol Opelt and Richard Alex Apfel, both of Madison, exchanged wedding vows Saturday, June 19, at 7:30 p.m. in the Neillsville United Methodist Church. The Rev. Melvin Nickel performed the double-ring ceremony uniting the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jerry M. Opelt, Neillsville, and the son of Mr. and Mrs. John L. Apfel, also of Neillsville. The couple was given in marriage by their parents.

Organ music for the processional, “Jesu, Joy of Man’s Desiring,” and for the recessional, “Trumpet Voluntary,” was played by Mrs. James Musil. Guitar music by Kevin Langreck included “Turn, Turn, Turn” and “One Hand, One Heart.”

The church was decorated for the occasion by candlelight and arrangements of purple and pink flowers.

For her marriage the bride chose to wear her mother’s ivory satin wedding gown, styled with a long train and a skirt front gathered to reveal a ruffled under-panel. Her ivory veil was shoulder length. She carried a summer bouquet of roses, daisies, carnations, bachelor buttons, and baby’s breath with accents of lavender and pink.

Mrs. Tana Pischer was the matron-of-honor and Miss Judith Schiesel was the bridesmaid. Both attendants are from Madison. They wore lavender and pink flowered peasant dresses and carried wicker baskets of roses, daisies, carnations, bachelor buttons, and baby’s breath with accents of lavender and pink.

Kevin Langreck of Madison was bestman. Groomsman was Larry Opelt, the bride’s brother. Ushers were Jeffry Schwantes of Eau Claire and Terry Rosandich of Chili.

A reception and dance were held at the American Legion Hall following the ceremony.

After a wedding trip to northern Wisconsin the newlyweds will live at 1306 Vilas Ave. in Madison, where both are employed and attending the University.
