The Senior
Citizens Club enjoyed a picnic supper in the park Friday, followed by a short
business meeting, then games and an old-time visit. There were 31 present. It
was voted to hold the next meeting, which is Friday, July 16, in the park and
have a picnic supper.
Mrs. Bernard Scheffer and Mrs. Lyle Prindle left
Wednesday for Madison to attend women’s College week, which is sponsored by the
Homemakers clubs.
Mr. and Mrs. Virgil Denk and Mr. and Mrs. Robert Denk
and family of Decorah, Ia., Mr. and Mrs. Don Denk and family of Waukon, Ia., and
Mr. and Mrs. Ronnie Parks and family of Marshfield spent the weekend with Mrs.
Edith Smith and painted her house, making the old saying come true, “Many hands
make light work.”
Mrs. Harriette Gorst, accompanied by Mrs. Pearl
Johnson and a friend, were in Eau Claire Wednesday.
Mr and Mrs. Harvey
Erickson of Zenda came Fridays to spend a few days with her sister and
brother-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Alton Stallard.
Mrs. Thane Joos and Janice
of Alma Center, Mrs. Don Gerred and Kim of Janesville and Mrs. Maude Newton were
in Eau Claire on business Friday afternoon.
Mrs. Mabel Dueselman of
Sheldon and daughter, Mrs. Ada Goutvacher of Kimberly visited Tuesday at the A
Arnold Matti home. Others there were Mr and Mrs. Fred Rupnow and their guest,
Mrs. Alice Ampart of Union Grove.
The local TOPS Club and the clubs from
Fairchild, Alma Center, Neillsville and Granton planned to meet Tuesday in the
local park for a picnic supper.
Mrs. Kenneth Enerson of Janesville called
Friday at the Arnold Matti home.
Mr and Mrs. Everett Senske and boys and
Mike Kirby of St. Paul, Mr. and Mrs. Burvil Walker and son of Minneapolis, and
Mrs. Marion Seelow of Milwaukee came Sunday to help celebrate Father’s Day at
the A. L. Kirby home.
Mr. and Mrs. Ben Clouse of Loyal visited Sunday at
the Henry Laffe home.
Mrs. Madge Clem of Elgin, Ill., and Mr. and Mrs.
Bruce Clem of Clearwater, Fla., were overnight guests Wednesday at the Jean
Collins home.
Mr. and Mrs. Cullen Dignin called Sunday at the Ellis
Williams and Mrs. Christine Hansen homes.
Father’s Day brought Mr. and
Mrs. Willis Johnson and family of Appleton and Mr. and Mrs. Fred Barnowski and
boys of Wausau for a weekend at the Ted Polege home. Mr. and Mrs. Harland Meyer
and family of Cedar Falls also came to spend the weekend at the Polege home and
with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Herman Meyer in Alma Center. Mr. and Mrs. Roger
Nehring and boys of rural Eau Claire were overnight guests Friday at the Polege
home.
Mr. and Mrs. Ed Holub and two grandchildren of Neillsville were
dinner gusts Sunday at the Levi Fitzmaurice home and Carl Greub of Neillsville
called there in the afternoon.
Mr. and Mrs. Rolla Sieg of Fairchild were
guests Sunday at the Bernard Sieg home and with them and Mrs. Laura Dignin
attended the strawberry festival parade in Alma Center.
Mr. and Mrs.
Carl Eslinger and grandsons of rural Neillsville spent Sunday afternoon with
Jean Collins. The men did some fishing while here.
Mr. and Mrs. Louis
Greub and daughter of River Falls spent Sunday with his parents Mr. and Mrs.
John Greub.
Mr. and Mrs. Claire Enerson of North Branch called Sunday
evening at the Arnold Matti home.
Mrs. Emma Keeler of Beloit is spending
a few weeks with her brother, John Bryner.
Sp. 4 and Mrs. Glen
Christenson of Fort Hood, Tex., spent several days last week with Mr. and Mrs.
Elmer Duerkop and then went to Madison to visit at the Tonty Krenz home.
Mrs. Ramona Duerkop was in Chippewa Falls Monday to attend a staff member’s
meeting of the Day Care Center.
Mr. and Mrs. Perle Pickett spent
Saturday at the Bernard Burnett home in rural Hixton helping out a bit as Mr.
Burnett had suffered a back injury.
Mr. and Mrs. Mel Markham were dinner
guests Sunday of Mr. and Mrs. Harold Losey in Fairchild.
Mr. and Mrs.
Perle Pickett called on Ray Duxbury of rural Merrillan who is seriously ill in
the Black River Falls hospital.
Mr. and Mrs. Perle Pickett visited Sunday
evening at the Lloyd Meyer home in Neillsville.
Mr. and Mrs. George
Zuehlke of Loyal came Sunday to join the Roy Johnson family and attend the
strawberry festival and parade and enjoy a cook-out supper at the Johnson home.
Strawberries are keeping many folks busy and are of excellent quality
and quite plentiful.
In word received from Jake Lightfoot in University
Hospital, Minneapolis, we hear he is some better but still undergoing tests.
Mrs. Lightfoot is with him.
