North, William Frederick (19
May 1886 - 3 July 1971)
Funeral services for William F. North, 85, for
many years a banker here and in Milwaukee, who died in Neillsville July 3, were
held Tuesday, July 6, at 1:30 p.m. in St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church
with the Rev. Norman W. Lindloff officiating. Burial was made in the Neillsville
City Cemetery. The Georgas Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
William Frederick North, the son of Henry A. and Ottalie (Radke) North was born
May 19, 1886, in Neillsville, where he received his early education. He also
attended Northwestern College at Watertown and Dr. Martin Luther College at New
Ulm, Mn.
His marriage to the former Emma Kunkel took place September 7,
1922, at St. Cloud, Mn. Mr. North, who spent 38 years in banking, was associated
with the Neillsville Bank and with the Marine National Bank of Milwaukee. The
Norths returned to Neillsville upon his retirement in 1954. He was a member of
St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church.
Survivors, in addition to his
wife, include: two sisters, Laura North and Clara North, both of Neillsville;
and three brothers, his twin brother, Gust North of Neillsville, Henry North of
Chicago, Il, and Herman North, also of Neillsville.
Pallbearers were: Dan
Patey, Arnold Yankee, William Dux, Delbert Struble, Heron Van Gorden, and
Richard Schleifer. “A Might Fortress” and “The Lord’s Prayer” were sung by Mrs.
Harold Mayer. She was accompanied by Victor Lehmann.
Those from
out-of-town who attended the services included: Mr. and Mrs. James Riel and sons
of Menomonee Falls, Mr. and Mrs. Edward Radke, Mrs. Paula Zastrow and Miss
Louise Hillmer of Montello, Adolph Radke of Princeton, Mr and Mrs. Harry Swanson
of La Crosse, Mrs. Janet Pree of Excelsior, Mn., and Henry North of Chicago, Il.
