Hiles, Robert (9 December 1900 - 30 June 1971)

Funeral services for Robert Hiles, 70, of Rt. 2 Granton, who died in Neillsville June 30, were held Saturday, July 3, at 2 p.m. from Zion American Lutheran Church in the Town of Grant with the Rev. Roland Roehrs officiating. Burial was in the Town of Grant Cemetery. The Gilbertson Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Robert Hiles was born December 9, 1900, in Spring Grove, Il. His marriage to the former Anida Dietrich took place March 25, 1925, in the Town of Grant, where he lived on a farm and was in the trucking and excavating business for many years. Mr. Hiles was a member of Zion American Lutheran Church in the Town of Grant.

Survivors, in addition to his wife, include the following: three sons, James of Aurora, Il., and Wallace and Walter, both at home; five daughters, Mrs. Albert (Ramona) Davidson of Adams, Mrs. Eugene (Dorothy) Cattanach of Granton, Mrs. Tilman (Marcia) Erickson of Milwaukee, Mrs. Don (Beverly) Suhr of Calumet City, and Mrs. Paul (Gloria) Spaete of Madison; one brother, William Hiles of Granton; and 17 grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Hubert and Harold Dudei, John and Everett Handt, Robert Canfield, and Robert Drescher. “In the Garden” and “Abide with me” were sung by Susan Dudei. She was accompanied by Rose Ann Rose.
