Ida Rebecca Davis, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Christian Davis,
was born June 3, 1874 in Columbus Grove, Ohio. On Oct. 23, 1893 she was united
in marriage to Alonzo P. Sheets in Putman Co., Ohio. After their marriage they
lived on the Sheets' farm near Columbus until 1901, when they came to Greenwood
(Clark Co., Wis.). Mr. Sheets passed away in May 1936.
Mrs. Sheets was a
member of the Woman's Society of Christian Service of Grace Methodist Church.
Mrs. Sheets passed away in her sleep at her home on Monday, March 3, 1952.
She had been in poor health for the past four years and suffered a heart attack
on Saturday.
She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. George (Lelah) Humke
and Miss Evangeline Sheets, at home; seven grandchildren; eight
great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Minnie Basinger of Lima, Ohio and Mrs.
Layton Core of Columbus, Ohio.
Her parents, husband, two daughters, Edna
and Mahala, a brother and three sisters preceded her in death.
The body
lay in state at the Stabnow Funeral Parlors from Tuesday evening until 1:00 p.m.
Thursday, when it was taken to the Grace Methodist Church, where services were
held at 2:00 p.m. The Rev. Lee Holmes will officiate. She will be laid to rest
in the Greenwood Cemetery. She will be laid to rest in the Greenwood Cemetery.
During the services, Mrs. Chal. Perkins and Mrs. Geo. Haeuser sang "The Lord
is My Shepherd" and "Beyond the Sunset," accompanied by Mrs. Wm. Olson at the
piano.
The pallbearers were Elmer Johnson, E.L. Ketchpaw, Otto Voie, H.R.
Baird, Wm. C. Steiger and George Speich.
Those in charge of flowers were
Mmes. Otto Voie, Minnie Cox, Alma Mason, M.E. Kenyon and Wm. Steiger.
