Former Town of Rib Lake resident Peter "Pete"
J. Berg, 79, Marshfield, died on Wednesday, Dec. 11 at House of the Dove in
Marshfield, where he had resided the past five days.
Memorial services
are pending with Hemer Funeral Service of Medford and Rib Lake. Interment of his
cremated remains will take place at Hillside Cemetery in Ogema.
Peter
Berg was born on August 5, 1934 in Marshfield to the late Richard and Carol Sue
(Johnson) Berg. He attended Ward Grade School in the Rib Lake area and was a
1952 graduate of Marshfield Senior High School. He worked for Steve Miller
Cheese Company and Soo Line Railroad before serving in the United States Army
from 1954 to 1956.
In 1958, he married Joan Schuh, and they were later
divorced. In Marshfield, he married Jacqueline Welch, who preceded him in death
in 2003.
In 1958, he began his career with the Marshfield Fire
Department where he worked as an engineer for 24 years until his retirement in
1982. He then moved to the Town of Rib Lake where he resided until moving to
Wells Nature View Assisted Living in Marshfield one year ago.
He was a
member of Rib Lake United Methodist Church. He enjoyed the outdoors, especially
fishing.
Survivors include three sons, Steve (Lonna) Berg and Alan Berg,
both of Sheboygan, and Daniel Berg of Westby; a daughter, Susan (Glen) Ridnour
of Flower Mound, TX; two step-children, Michelle (Brian) Gleeson of Strum and
Joel Latham of Madison; a sister-in-law, Betty Berg of Riverside, Calif.; nine
grandchildren; one step-grandchild; nieces and nephews; and other relatives and
friends.
In addition to his parents and second wife, Jacqueline, he was
preceded in death by a brother, David Berg.

should be made in his memory to Rib Lake United Methodist Church.
