Dassow, Harold "Sonny" J. Jr. (11 SEP 1949 - 6 DEC 2013)

Harold "Sonny" J. Dassow Jr., 64, Town of Chelsea, was pronounced dead on Friday, Dec. 6 at his home.

Funeral services were held on Tuesday, Dec. 10 at Hemer Funeral Home in Medford, with Rev. Randal Jeppesen officiating, and military rites performed by the Medford Military Honors Team.

Interment was at Medford Evergreen Cemetery II. Pallbearers were Victor Schiszik, Gary Weir, Ronnie Kraemer, Roger Brandner, Rob Lamberty and Leroy Dassow.

Date and place of birth: September 11, 1949 at Medford

Education: Frey elementary school, Town of Browning and was a graduate of Medford High school. He also received a degree in Advanced Production Agriculture from NTC in Wausau.

Marriage: May 5, 1972 at OLPH Catholic Church, Whittlesey to Elizabeth “Betty” Overman. She preceded him in death November 15, 2006

Principal events in life: After his education, he was a US Army veteran. After the military, he returned to the area and did woods work. Then he purchased a farm in the Town of Chelsea where he farmed until his retirement. In retirement, he continued to do woods work and did custom farm work. He enjoyed hunting, playing cards, gambling, and his grandchildren.

Surviving children: Daughters, Tammie (Lance) Helmert, Medford; Mindy (Ryan) Thomas, Medford; Karrie (Nick Klinger) Dassow, Medford; Marsha (Kris) Schiszik, Fall Creek; Son, Monte (Lori) Dassow of Medford. Number of living grandchildren: 11.
