Johnson, Vera M. (1 MAY 1952)
A very pretty wedding was solemnized at Our
Savior's Lutheran Church on Thursday, May 1, 1952 at 2:00 p.m., when Miss Vera
Marie Johnson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Johnson, became the bride of
Harold August Prust, son of Mr. and Mrs. John Prust of Spencer, in a double ring
performed by the Rev. O.K. Odland of Curtiss.
The bride, given in
marriage by her father, wore a gown of white satin styled with a net yoke,
fitted bodice and long sleeves, which came to points over the wrists. Her full
skirt extended into a long train. She wore a finger-tip veil of illusion edged
with Chantilly lace, and carried a shower bouquet of red and white roses.
Mrs. Robert Prust, sister-in-law of the groom, as matron of honor, wore a
rose colored gown styled with a lace bodice, cap sleeves, Peter Pan collar, and
a full skirt. Her matching gauntlets completed her ensemble and she carried a
colonial bouquet of aqua, pink and white carnations.
Mrs. Glen Phillips,
friend of the bride, as bridesmaid, wore a light aqua gown, styled identically
as the matron of honor. She also carried a bouquet of aqua, pink and white
carnations.
Robert Prust, Spencer, served his brother as best man, with
Glen Phillips, Wis. Rapids, friend of the groom, as groomsman. All three wore
white carnation boutonnieres.
Leroy Schmitz, Spencer, friend of the
couple, and Raymond Johnson, Loyal, cousin of the bride, ushered.
During
the ceremony Mrs. Louis Behrens sang "Crown with Thy Benediction: and "The
Lord's Prayer," accompanied by Mrs. Don Warner at the organ, who also played the
processional and recessional.
The bride's mother viewed her daughter's
wedding in a gray dress with blue and red accessories, and the groom's mother
wore a navy blue dress with blue and white accessories. Each wore a corsage of
pink and white carnations and sweet peas.
The day also marked the 64th
anniversary of the bride's grandmother, Mrs. Martha, Cole, wife of the late Dr.
B.A. Cole.
Dinner was held at 4:30 in the church parlors for
approximately 100 guests and in the evening a dance was held at the County
Ballroom.
