Grottke, Fred (11 January 1885 - 8 July 1971)
Funeral
services for Fred Grottke, 86, of Memorial Home, who died July 8, were held
Monday, July 12 at 2 p.m. from Zion Lutheran Church in Granton with the Rev.
Roland Roehrs officiating. Interment was in the church cemetery. The Gilbertson
Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Fred Grottke was born
January 11, 1885, in Germany. He came to the United States as a child and
received his education at the Poplar Grove School and at the Mapleworks Lutheran
School at Granton. His marriage to the former Lydia Pusheck took place in
Granton on May 24, 1915. The Grottke’s lived on a farm in the Town of Lynn until
1966 when he entered Memorial Home. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in
Granton.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include four daughters:
Mrs. John (Dorothy) Engelsman of Maywood, Il. Mrs. Gertrude Wilson of Chicago,
Il., Mrs. Chapman (Ethel) Paulson of Neillsville, and Mrs. Ruth Dombro of
Wheaton, Il.; one son, Louis Grottke of Granton; and eight grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Lucien Moh, Herbert Sternitzky, Edwin Sternitzky, Erwin
Sternitzky, Wi9lliam Weichelt and Louis Helm. The Hymns “What a Friend We Have
in Jesus” and “Beautiful Savior” were sung by the congregation. Mrs. Lee
Garbisch was the organist.
