Catlin, Anna (5 January 1897 - 12
July 1971)
Mrs. Anna Catlin, 74, of Loyal, died July 12 at St. Joseph’s
Hospital, Marshfield, after a brief illness. Funeral services were held
Wednesday afternoon from the Loyal United Methodist church with the Rev. Gene
Carlson officiating. Burial was made in the Loyal Cemetery.
The former
Anna Johnson was born January 5, 1897, in Loyal. After graduation from Loyal
High School in 1914 she attended the old Stevens Point Normal. She taught Taft
School prior to her marriage to Perle Catlin in 1916, when they moved to Oregon,
Wis., for a year. In 1924 they moved to the village of Loyal after living on a
farm east of Loyal. For many years Mrs. Catlin was at the head of the Loyal
Public School lunch program.
She was a member of the Loyal United
Methodist Church, the Women’s Society of Christian Service, the Royal Neighbors
of America and the American Legion Auxiliary.
Surviving are 10 children:
Melford and Marion, both of Milwaukee, Vernon of Rhinelander, Mrs. Norbert
(Rose) Herman and Mrs. Lawrence (Dorothy) Schubert of Marshfield, Eldon of
Tomah, Harvey of Plainfield, Ill., Jerome of Merrill, Carrol of Menasha, and
Richard of Eau Claire. There are 51 grandchildren and 56 great-grandchildren.
She is also survived by two brothers, Siguard and Harold Johnson, and a sister,
Mrs. Lloyd Hebert, all of Loyal.
