Briski, Joseph F. (25 MAY 1885 - 5 JUN 1952)

Joseph Frank Briski was born May 25, 1885 in Yugoslavia and came to the United States when 17 years old, living in New Mexico. He lived in different western states until 1929, when he came to Greenwood (Clark Co., Wis.) and lived on a farm northwest of here.

In 1912 he was married to Mary Zager in New Mexico and she passed away in 1918. He was then married to Katherine Majanic at Greenwood in 1921.

Mr. Briski was a member of the Maple Ridge School Board for many years and a member of the Croatian National Association.

Mr. Briski passed away at St. Joseph's Hospital on Thursday, June 5, 1952 of a heart ailment.

A Requiem Mass was read at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Greenwood on Monday, June 9th, the Rev. Father Edward Hartung officiated. He was laid to rest in St. Mary's Cemetery.

He is survived by his wife, two sons, Ivan of Chicago and Joseph Jr. of the Marine Corps, Ocean Side, Calif.; seven daughters, Mrs. Goldie Trybula, Withee; Mrs. Marie Gasparac, Greenwood; Mrs. Jenne Miller, Gary, Ind.; Mrs. Anne Ethridge, Birmingham, Ala.; the Misses Olga and Margaret Briski, Chicago. He is also survived by three brothers, Mike Sr., Greenwood, John and Valentine, Yugoslavia; and one sister, Mrs. Frances Todich, Granite City, Ill., and many grandchildren.

His parents, first wife and one sister preceded him in death.

The pallbearers were James Metcalf, George Vivoda, John Verschay, H. R. Baird, Mike Podobnik Sr., and Frank Raik.
