Grobe, Carola A. (4 JUN 1925 - 24 DEC 2013)

Carola A. Grobe, age 88, of Marshfield passed away Tuesday, December 24, 2013 at the House of the Dove in Marshfield. Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Monday, December 30, 2013 at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church (W2880 Granton Road) in Granton. The Rev Chris Schwanz officiate. Visitation will be held at 10:30 AM until the time of service at the church on Monday. Burial will take place in the Windfall Cemetery, in Granton. Hansen-Schilling Funeral Home in Marshfield is assisting the family with arrangements.

Carola was born June 4, 1925 in Hewitt to William and Dorothy (Lutz) Weichelt. She graduated from Granton Public School. In 1942 she moved to Rockford, IL and worked there until 1945. On August 15, 1945 Carola married Earl Chubb. The couple had eight children together and farmed the family farm for 24 years. In 1970 the couple divorced and Carola took a job with Weinbrenner Shoe Factory. In 1973 she started working for Artcraft Homes in Spencer, WI. On October 10, 1973 she was united in marriage to Edwin E Grobe. The couple worked construction together for many years. He preceded her in death in 1986. Carola also worked for 14 ½ years for Weyerhaeuser Door Company.

In 2007 Carola entered the Marshfield Care Center, where she lived until entering the Palliative Care Center at Ministry St Joseph's Hospital and later House of the Dove in Marshfield.

Carola enjoyed gardening, hunting, fishing, and playing cards. She especially enjoyed feeding the birds. Those that knew her best will miss her warm spirit and her love of gospel music.

Carola is survived by 8 children: Carolyn Wesenberg of Granton, Marjie (Dale) Buckner of Pittsville, Nancy (Tom) Dahlen of Granton, Doris (Joe) Fischer of Hampton, MN, Sally (Terry) Schar of Lakeville, MN, Jerry (Marti) Chubb of Unity, Debra (Jim) Rakovec of Marshfield, and Jane (Mike) Reigel of Stratford. She is further survived by 29 grandchildren, 51 great grandchildren, and 7 great great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, brother, son-in-law and a granddaughter.
