Schlinkert, Herbert (? - 14 July 1971)

Mr. and Mrs. George L. Johnson of Mt. Horeb have notified local friends of the death of Mrs. Johnson’s brother, Herbert T. Schlinkert, 48, in a Ridgewood, N. J., hospital following a two-month illness.

A graduate of Owen High School in 1940, Mr. Schlinkert attended Eau Claire State College two years before entering the Army Signal Corps in World War II. He later graduated from the University of Wisconsin (Madison) in 1947 and was employed by the Victor Chemical Company as a chemical-packaging engineer in Chicago Heights, Ill., while living in Crete, Ill. Six years ago he moved to Ramsey, N. J., where he was employed by Stauffer Chemical Company (Ardsley Plant) of New York City.

Besides professional organizations, Mr. Schlinkert was a member of Ridgewood Lutheran Church and held several offices in the Boy Scouts of America, including scoutmaster of an area troop.

Survivors include his wife, Dorothy, formerly of Madison; and six children: Mrs. John Almond of Carpentersville, Ill.; David, 19, Karen, 21, Maribeth, 17, Virginia, 16 and Teddy 12; also his sister, Bernadine, Mt. Horeb; and mother, Mrs. Theo. Schlinkert of Neillsville. He was preceded in death by his father, in 1969.

Mrs. Theo Schlinkert and Mr. and Mrs. John Almond attended services held at a Ridgewood Lutheran Church July 19. Burial was made in Ramsey, N. J.
