14, 1952 -- Harland L. Carl, son of Mr. and Mrs. Irvin Carl, Greenwood (Clark
Co.), Wis., a student at the University of Wisconsin, is one of mor than
thirteen hundred cadets from fifty colleges and universities attending the
transportation corps reserve officers training corps summer training camp at
Fort Eustis, Va. during the period of June 21 to August 1st.
While at
Camp the cadets will accomplish practical application or theoretical training
received ruing the past year in activities such as rail operations, highway
transport service, marine operations and freight and passenger movements. Also
the cadets will participate in physical training, organized athletics,
radiological defense, and weapons and marksmanship.
Cadet Carl will be
eligible for a commission in the United States Army Reserve upon completion of
his R.O.T.C. academic and field training requirements. An opportunity to compete
for a regular Army commission is also available.
