Emberson, Dena J. (18 MAY 1881 – 8 JUL 1952)

Mrs. John Emberson, the former Dena Jorgene Albertson, was born in York Township, Green County, Wis. On May 18, 1881; the daughter of Hans and Asloug Albertson. She was baptized Perry Lutheran Church and was confirmed in York Lutheran Church y Pastor Henrich Voldal.

On June 24, 1902 she was married to John Emberson at Monroe, Wis. They farmed in Green County for a few years before they moved to White Rock, S.D., where they farmed for 14 years. In 1920 they purchased a farm near Greenwood (Clark Co., Wis.), where she resided until her death Tuesday evening, July 8, 1952 at the age of 71 years.

She was preceded in death by her husband, who passed away in 1937; by one son, a brother and two sisters.

She is survived by son Vilas, Greenwood; three daughters, Naomi (Mrs. David Danielson), Ragnhild (Mrs. John D. Wuethrich), Greenwood; Eulilla (Mrs. Erling Nelson), Barron; a sister, Mrs. Martin Johnson, Blanchardville; two brothers, Amund of Douglas, N.D., and Carl of Blanchardville; seven grandchildren, Devere, Diane, Dawn And Dallas Wuethrich; Terry and John Emberson, and Richard Nelson.

She was a devoted wife and mother, and a loyal member of the Lutheran Church all her life. She has been a member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church since the family moved here to Greenwood, and has taken an active part in the Good Hope Ladies Aid Society.

Funeral services were held at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, July 11th, with the Rev. M.S. Egge officiating. Burial was in the Greenwood Cemetery in the family lot beside her husband and son.

An old Norwegian hymn was sung by Mrs. Otto Voie, and “Just As I Am” was sung by Mrs. Ronald Tieman, Mrs. Russell Mead, Mrs. E.S. Ellingson, Mrs. Otto Voie, and Mrs. Louis Behrens.

A resident in this community for 32 years, she will be missed by a host of friends. Until the last years she has taken a part in church and community life. During her illness the last eight months, she was cared for by her children, especially her daughter, Mrs. David Danielson, and by a by a neighbor, Mrs. Edwin Hegenbarth.

Conscious and mentally alert until the last evening, she appreciated the many visits of friends and relatives and her pastor.

The pallbearers were Arleigh Syth, John Syth, Lloyd Peterson, Dale Horn, Edwin Hegenbarth and Otto Voie.

The flowers were carried by Mrs. Emma Johnson, Mrs. Edwin Hegenbarth, Mrs. Alma Mason and Mrs. Otto Voie.

Relatives attending the funeral from Blanchardville were Mr. and Mrs. Martin Johnson and Wilma, Willard Emberson, Carl Albertson, Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Albertson, Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Albertson, Mr. and Mrs. Ben Hanson, Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Hanson, Mrs. Ed Kolden and R.T. Saether. Those who came from New Glarus were, Ted Kolden, Mrs. Wilmer Dagwell, Mrs.. Emil Von Ary. Others were Kenneth Olson of Neillsville and Mrs. Russell Weaver and Mrs. H. Linneman of Owen.
