Brick, Matilda (28 JAN 1876 – 15 JUL 1952)

Mrs. Fred Brick, nee Matilda Schwarze, daughter of Herman and Christine (Meyer) Schwarze, was born in the Town of Warner (Clark Co., Wis.) on Jan. 28, 1876.

She was married to Fred Brick on Nov. 17, 1897. They settled on a farm in the Town of Warner, where she passed away Tuesday, July 15, 1952, at the age of 76 years.

She was a member of the West Side evangelical and Reformed Church and the Ladies Aid Society.

She is survived by four sons, Arthur and Alvin at home; Raymond, Chicago; and Elmer, Milwaukee; one daughter, Mrs. Ralph (Irene Dusso), Loyal; one sister, Mrs. Sydney (Augusta) Green, Pueblo, Colo.; three brothers, Adolph, Hayward, George and Otto, Greenwood, and 12 grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband on May 27, 1927; two sons, Harold in 1941 and Walter in 1918, and her parents, three brothers and one sister.

Funeral services were held on Friday, July 18, 1952 at 1:30 at the Brick home and at 2:00 o’clock at the West Side Reformed Church, Rev. Charles Koch officiated. Burial was in the West Side Cemetery. During the services the Senior Choir sang “Abide with Me” and “Neher Mein Gott Zu Dir.”

The pallbearers were Harvey, Ewald, Orlin, Durward, Walter and Elroy Schwarze. Flowers were carried by Patricia and Karen Brick, Myrna Dusso and Marilyn Rithaler.

Those from out of town who attended the funeral were: Mr. and Mrs. Raymond, Brick, Chicago; Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Brick and family, and Miss Joan Brick, Milwaukee; Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Radke and son Steven Brick, Sheboygan; Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Dusso, Loyal; Mr. and Mrs. S.T. Green, Pueblo, Colo.; Mr. and Mrs. Adolph Schwarze, Hayward; Mrs. Agnes Schwarze and Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Ernst, Weyauwega; Durward Schwarze, Granton; Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Schwarze, Mrs. Henry Laube, Owen; Marilyn and Robert Rithaler, Chicago; Mrs. Christina Leonhard and Mrs. Walter Leonhard, Gilman.
