Olson, Ida C. (11 JAN
1887 – 23 JUL 1952)
Mrs. Herman Olson, the former Ida Caroline Anderson,
was born Jan. 11, 1887, in Chicago, where she received her education. She was
married on June 2, 1906 in Chicago to Herman Olson.
They resided in
Chicago from 1906 to 1921, when they came to Clark County (Wis.) and located on
a farm 3 miles west of Greenwood, which they operated until Mr. Olson was
elected Sheriff in 1939, when they moved to Neillsville. They resided in
Neillsville since that time.
Mrs. Olson was a member of Our Savior’s
Lutheran Church, Greenwood, and the Royal Neighbor Lodge of Neillsville. Members
of the Camp attended the service at the Funeral Home in a group.
Mrs.
Olson passed away at her home in Neillsville on Wednesday, July 23, 1952. She
has been in poor health the past two years.
She is survived by her
husband, three daughters, Mrs. Roderick S. (Arlene) Lewis, New York City; Mrs.
Thomas Sugg, Chicago; Mrs. Edward (Lois) Guest, Philadelphia, Pa.; two sons,
Hebert, New London; Roy, Neillsville; five grandchildren and a sister, Mrs. Ray
Herriing, Chicago.
A daughter preceded her in death.
Funeral
services were held Saturday, July 26 at Georgas Funeral Home, Neillsville, at
10:30 a.m., and at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, Greenwood at 2:00 p.m. The Rev.
M.S. Egge officiated at the services and she was laid to rest in the Greenwood
Cemetery.
During the morning service Mrs. Louis Behrens sand “I’m a
Pilgrim and a Stranger” and “One, Sweetly Solemn Thought,” with Mrs. Don Warner
accompanying at the piano. At the church in the afternoon she sang “I Know of a
Sleep in Jesus Name” and “Still, Still with Thee,” with Mrs. Warner at the
organ.
The pallbearers were Emil Kolstad, Henry Johnson, Palmer Vinger,
George Vollrath and Edwin Johnson.
Mrs. Palmer Vinger, Mrs. E.S.
Ellingson, Mrs. O.J. Amundson, Mrs. Thomas Erickson, Mrs. William Kavanaugh and
Mrs. Richard Thompson were in charge of the flowers.
