Nowack, Clarence (10 January 1901 - 28 July 1971)

Funeral services for Clarence Nowack, 70, of Granton, who died July 28, at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Marshfield, were held Saturday, July 31, at 2 p.m. from Zion Lutheran Church at Granton. The Rev. Roland Roehrs officiated and burial was in the Windfall Cemetery at Granton. The Gilbertson Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Nowack was born January 10, 1901, in Kankakee, Ill. and was educated at schools in that state. He came to the Town of York with his parents in 1918. His marriage to Elizabeth (Hamus) Simolke took place July 18, 1950, in Iowa.

Mr. Nowack served as manager of the O. W. Trindal elevator in Granton for many years, had also worked at the Spry Elevator and had served as manager of the Farmers Union Feed mill at Granton until the time of his retirement.

Survivors include his wife, Elizabeth; two daughters, Mrs. Dorothy Reisner and Mrs. Gilbert (Darlene) Hurtis, both of Marathon; two step-children, Mrs. Wallace (Eleanor) Erlandson of Minneapolis, Mn., and Elmer Simolke of Wisconsin Rapids; one brother, Raymond Nowack of Granton; one sister, Mrs. Richard Howe of Ely, Mn.; and 14 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Pallbearers were Roland Quicker, Robert Spry, Ewald Schlinsog, Walter Steinbach, John Hammond, and Durward Schwarze. Mrs. Elmer Simolke sang “Just as I Am” and “Beautiful Savior.” She was accompanied by Mrs. Leland Garbisch.
