Corey, Mervin W. (26 OCT 1888 – 7 AUG 1952)
Mervin William Corey, age 63
years 9 months and 11 days, of Greenwood (Clark Co., Wis.), Route 1, passed away
at the Sacred Heart Hospital, Eau Claire, Aug. 7, 1952 at 8:30 a.m. of cancer of
the liver.
The funeral services were held at Watertown, Wis. At 1:00
p.m., with the Rev. James De Golier, pastor of the episcopal Church,
officiating. The body lay in state at the Myre Funeral Home in Loyal.
Mervin Corey was born at Watertown, Wis., Oct. 26, 1888 and received his
education in the public schools there. In 1914 he married Faye Otis at Humboldt,
Iowa. In the earliest years of his manhood, he was brakeman for the Illinois
Central Railroad. The past twelve years he lived with is sister, Florence, on
the farm. He was a member of the Brotherhood of Railroad Train men.
The
deceased is survived by his father, Mr. O.A. Corey, Loyal; five sister, Mrs.
August (Edith) Lemberg, Loyal; Mrs. Arthur (Sarah) Jacobsen and Mrs. Olive
Bennett, Milwaukee; Mrs. Chal (Alice) Perkins and Miss Florence Corey,
Greenwood; and one brother, Howard Corey of Greenwood. His mother, wife, and a
son preceded him in death.
Relatives and friends from Milwaukee, Loyal
and Greenwood attended the funeral.
