Larsen, Albert M. (30 MAR 1924 - 29
DEC 2013)
Albert M. Larsen, 89, of Edgar, passed away on Sunday, December
29, 2013, at Wausau Aspirus Hospital.
A memorial service will be held at
3 p.m. on Friday, January 3, 2014, at Rib Falls United Methodist Church, Pastor
Steve Booher will officiate. The family will receive relatives and friends on
Friday from 1 p.m. until the time of service.
Albert was born March 30,
1924, in Lime Springs, IA, to Nels and Marie Larsen. He was quite the athlete at
his high school in Lime Springs: half- & fullback in football, and center
fielder & pitcher on his softball team. After graduating from Lime Springs, he
did a lot of league bowling. He went on to work at a farm in Waterloo, and then
in construction and for John Deere & International Harvester in the Tri-Cities,
where he met his future wife, Genevieve Gilmour.
Albert returned to the
family farm in Lime Springs after a tornado in 1948, but Genevieve never left
his mind, and in February 1949, they were married. Together they farmed in Lime
Springs, Iowa, for 14 years, and then purchased a farm in Edgar where they
farmed until their retirement in 1989.
Albert held a seat on the Edgar Co-op
Board for nine years and was also a member of the Edgar FFA Alumni. He loved to
follow the Brewers and Packers, and attended many Edgar High School sporting
events.
Albert will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 64 years,
Genevieve; his children, Judy (Tim) Ranke, Birnamwood; Marilyn Larsen, Hudson,
and daughter Erica; Harry Larsen, Hudson, and children Corey (Kristen), Kelli
Jo, & Casey; Carla (Walter) Wiese, Medford, and children Kyle (Stacy Hansen),
Brittany (Justin Scott), Amber, & Shawna; & Dawn (Kevin) Durr, Edgar, and
children Tyler & McKenzie; and a sister, Shirley Tuccillo, Brooklyn, NY.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Nels & Marie; and stepmother Olga; and
his siblings, Sherman, Richard, Harry, Nels, Edna Mae, & Grace.
The
family would like to extend a sincere thank you to Dr. Tom Stoffel and the staff
of Wausau Manor and Aspirus Hospital.
