Zwaschka, Joanne C. (1 JUL 1949 - 22 DEC 2013)

It is with profound sadness that the family of Joanne Zwaschka, 64, Willard, reports her loss to pancreatic cancer on Sunday, Dec. 22, 2013. Family and friends are invited to join Joanne's family at a celebration of life dinner at noon on Saturday, Jan. 4, at the Holy Family Catholic Church in Willard.

Joanne Clara Hribar was born on July 1, 1949, in Marshfield, to Walter and Clara (nee Routar) Hribar. She graduated from Greenwood High School in 1967 and attended UW-La Crosse for one year. After leaving college she worked various jobs before beginning her 30-year career at Adult Development Services in Greenwood. She retired from ADS in 2008. On Oct. 20, 1976, she married Tom Zwaschka and together they raised two sons, Adam and Lucas, on the Hribar home farm in Willard. Joanne was a quiet pillar of the Greenwood/Willard community and was actively involved in the development of Settlers' Park in Willard. She was one of the founding members of the Greenwood School District Fine Arts Booster Club and remained its president until stepping down in 2005. She helped senior citizens remain independent in their homes by helping them keep their medical appointments and perform activities of daily living. She also raised her beloved sheep for many years and enjoyed her birds, working in her gardens, and long walks with the family dog, "Miss Kitty of Dalhart, Texas."

Joanne is survived by her husband of 37 years, Tom Zwaschka, Willard; two sons, Adam Zwaschka, Emerald, and Lucas Zwaschka, Greenwood; her father, Walter Hribar, Greenwood; two brothers, Wally (Cheryl) Hribar, Prior Lake, Minn., and Tom (Lynn Eaton) Hribar, New Prague, Minn.; and three sisters, Mary (Gerry) Denk, Crystal Lake, Ill., Kathy (Tim Dew) Paredes, Conroe, Texas; and Patti (Dennis) Suda, Spencer.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Clara C. Hribar.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations to the oncology department at the Marshfield Clinic be made in her memory.

Online condolences may be expressed at www.cuddiefh.com.

Cuddie Funeral Home, Greenwood, is assisting the family with arrangements.
