Wing, Mary Jane #2 (19 JUL 1834 –
27 MAY 1916)
Mary Jane Wing was born in Cannadago, N.Y., July 19, 1834,
the daughter of John and Eva Flint and died at Neillsville very suddenly of
heart failure on May 27, 1916. She came to Wisconsin when a small child with her
parents and was united in marriage to G.H. Forbush at Beaver Dam on May 28,
1859. To this union eight children were born, six sons and two daughters. All
the children survive except one son, who died Nov. 8, 1882. On July 5, 1878, she
was united in marriage to Andrew Wing and one daughter was born to them. Mr.
Wing died in December, 1915, at the Veterans’ Home and since then Mrs. Wing has
made her home with her children. About two weeks ago she arrived here from
Mathers to spend the summer with her son and daughter.
Mrs. Wing was a
woman of good principles and to know her was to love her. She was a kind and
loving mother and neighbor. She made many friends wherever she went and was
always pleasant and cheerful. She leaves to deeply mourn her loss five sons and
three daughters, twenty-seven grandchildren, and fourteen great-grandchildren.
Her sons are Charley Forbush of Fair Mount, Minn., Frank Forbush of Portage, Ed.
Forbush of Kilbourn, Harry Forbush of Millston, George Forbush of Neillsville,
and the daughters are Mrs. E.R. Moffatt of Hewett, Mrs. E.N. Russell of Mather,
and Mrs. Laura Amidon of Melrose. All the children, except two sons, were here
to attend the funeral. She also leaves one sister, Mrs. F. Poole, of Brookings,
S.D., and one brother, Angelo Flint, of Illinois, who were unable to attend the
funeral. The remains were laid to rest in the Neillsville Cemetery.
Gone,
mother dear, to thy heavenly rest,
Thy journey tho’ long now is o’er;
Farewell, mother dear, but not forever,
We shall meet to part no more.
