Verne V. Varney of Greenwood, a sophomore in the College of
Agriculture, University of Wisconsin, is going to the summer camp for military
training at Ft. Harrison near Indianapolis, Ind. Varney has recently been
appointed a member of the sophomore committee to look after unruly freshmen who
refuse to wear the traditional green cap.
Clarence R. Grosser of
Greenwood, a sophomore in the College of Letters and Science, who was chairman
of the photographic and art sections of the 1917 Badger, the University annual,
will have charge of these departments on the 1918 staff.
Miss Raphealla
C. McCabe of Abbotsford expects to be graduated from the College of Letters and
Science, University of Wisconsin, June 21. Her thesis is on “The Department of
Interior under Carl Schurz.”
Fred M. Distlehorst of Dorchester expects to
be graduated from the Course in Journalism at the University of Wisconsin June
21. He was a member of his freshman baseball team, sophomore soccer team, and of
the Athletic Board in his junior year. For the past two years he has been a
member of the student self-government conference. His thesis is on “Dramatic
Criticism in American Newspapers and Periodicals.”
Guy S. Hales of
Granton expects to be graduated from the College of Agriculture of the
University of Wisconsin June21. His thesis is “Evolution of the Dairy Tile.”
Harry Ellis Benedict of Neillsville expects to be graduated from the Course
in Commerce at the University of Wisconsin June 21. He is a member of the Acacia
fraternity, a Masonic organization, and of Beta Gamma Sigma, honorary commercial
fraternity. In his sophomore year he was secretary of the Commerce Club and in
his senior year he was president. His thesis is “The Railway Labor Problem.”
Stephen S. McNelly of Neillsville expects to be graduated from the Course
for Normal School graduates at the University of Wisconsin June 21. He entered
as a junior from the Whitewater Normal School.
