Grobe, Carola (4 June 1925 - 24 December 2013)
Carola
Grobe, 88, of Marshfield passed away Tuesday, Dec. 24, 2013, at the House of the
Dove in Marshfield.
Carola was born June 4, 1925, in Hewitt, to William
and Dorothy (Lutz) Weichelt. She graduated from Granton Public School. In 1942,
she moved to Rockford, IL and worked there until 1945. Carola married Earl Chubb
Aug. 15, 1945. The couple had eight children together and farmed the family farm
for 24 years. In 1970, the couple divorced and Carola took a job with
Weinbrenner Shoe Factory. In 1973, she stated working for Artcraft Homes in
Spencer. She was united in marriage to Edwin E. Grobe Oct. 10, 1973. The couple
worked construction together for many years. He preceded her in death in 1986.
Carola also worked for 14 and one-half years for Weyerhaeuser Door Company.
In 2007, Carola entered the Marshfield Care Center, where she lived until
entering the Palliative Care Center at Ministry St. Joseph’s Hospital and later
house of the Dove in Marshfield.
Carola enjoyed gardening, hunting,
fishing and playing cards. She especially enjoyed feeding the birds. Those who
knew her best will miss her warm spirit and her love of gospel music.
Carola is survived by eight children, Carolyn Wesenberg of Granton, Marjie
(Dale) Buckner of Pittsville, Nancy (Tom) Dahlen of Granton, Doris (Joe) Fischer
of Hampton, MN, Sally (Terry) Schar of Lakeville, MN, Jerry (Marti) Chubb of
Unity, Debra (Jim) Rakovec of Marshfield and Jane (Mike) Reigel of Stratford.
She is further survived by 29 grandchildren, 51 great-grandchildren and seven
great-great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents;
husband, brother, son-in-law and a granddaughter.
Funeral services were
held at 11 a.m. Monday, Dec. 30, 2013 at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church (W2880
Granton Road) in Granton, with visitation at 10:30 a.m. until the time of the
service. The Rev. Chris Schwanz officiated. Burial took place in the Windfall
Cemetery in Granton.
