Thompson, Rev. & Mrs. T.O. (Gold
- 9 AUG 1952)
Rev. & Mrs. T.O. Thompson of Cameron celebrated their
Golden Wedding anniversary on Saturday, Aug. 9, 1952. A dinner was served for
relatives and close friends in the Methodist Church parlors at 4:30 p.m., the
Methodist Ladies Aid serving. Rev. Rohan pronounce the blessing.
Miss
Annette Gumm played a piano solo between courses and the bride and groom of 50
years ago also gave brief greetings to the guests.
The room and tables
were artistically decorated with garden flowers in gold and white.
The
bride wore a gold metallic gown which she tailored herself. Her corsage was of
white carnations and daisies tied with a gold bow.
An opern house,
attended by friends of the community, was held between the hourse of 7:30 and
9:30 p.m.
The buffet luncheon was attended by Miss Freda Mani of Barron
and Mrs. Mary Jane Manson of Balsam Lake. Mrs. E.K. Bacheller, St. Paul, cut the
four tiered anniversary cake. This cake, as well as all other pastries, were
made by Mrs. John Thompson, daughter-in-law of the couple. Mrs. Paul Carah of
Rice Lake and Mrs. Elmer Malum poured.
Mrs. Blanche Morrison of Barron
sang "Through the Years" and "A Perfect Day," accompanied at the piano by Mrs.
A.J. Folstad.
The Thompsons were married in Holbrook, Neb. Rev. Thompson
held various ministerial charges in Minnesota and Wisconsin, the last 26 years
having been spent in Cameron, where they have a host of friends.
Their
daughter Verna, now Mrs. O.F. Bolton of Sonora, Calif., and their son John and
family of Elkhorn were present and assisted witht he celebration.
Mrs.
Josie Hubble and Miss Evangeline Sheets were among the out of town guests
present.
