Lesnjak, Mike (2 OCT 1875 - 28 SEP 1952)

Mike Lesnjak was born Oct. 2, 1875 at St. Josi near Vruniku, Slovenia. In 1900 he was untied in marriage to Marjana Zoleznikar in Yugoslavia. To this union were born six children: Mike, John, Joseph, Tony, Johana, and Marjana.

Around 1906 he came to this, his adopted country. He then went back to hs native land and returned in 1909. He worked in the coal mines around Uniontown, Pa. and was also employed as a laborer in Silver Springs, N.Y. Later he went to Waukegan, Ill.

In the year 1910 he came with the late Gregor Seliskar and settled in the Town of Hendren, Willard (Clark Co., Wis.), where he resided until the time of his death. He took sick in the month of June of this year and passed away at the Clark County Hospital, Owen, Wis. At 4:30 a.m. on Sunday, Sept. 28, 1952. At the time of hsi death he was 776 year, 11 months and 26 days old. The body was then brought to Willard by the Schiller Undertaking Establishment where it lay in state at his home until the funeral. On Tuesday morning, Sept. 30, it was taken to the Holy Family Church in Willard for funeral rites. A Requiem Mass was read at 9:30, with the Rev. Father Augustine Svete officiating. Interment was in the Willard National Cemetery.

He leaves to mourn, his widow, Marjana in Yugoslavia; two sons, Mike and John; two daughters, Johana and Marjana. A son, Joseph, died in his infancy, and tony, the oldest son, was missing in action in World War II. In addition, he is survived by many grandchildren and other relatives not known; distant relatives, Mrs. Gaorovsek and Mr. Dolinar of Waukegan, Ill.; and Frank Lamovec of Willard. Mike will also be missed by his many friends and acquaintances who knew him for many years for his kind deeds and actions in his respected community.
