Stiefvater, Robert X. (1889? - 9 OCT 1952)

Robert X. Stiefvater, 63, of Manitowoc, son of the late Mr. and Chas. Stiefvater, was born in Little Falls, Minn. and was taken to Manitowoc County as a child.

He was married Alice Gries.

Mr. Stiefvater, who was purchasing agent for the Aluminum Cloods Mfg. Co., and father of the assistant agricultural agent for Milwaukee County, Eugene Stiefvater, died Thursday night, Oct. 9, 1952 at his Manitowoc home, after a three week illness.

Mr. Stiefvater joined his firm in 1913 as a shipping clerk. He was active in Boy Scout work and was given the Silver Beaver award in 1938. He also was active in the Knights of Columbus and a member of the Elks.

Surviving are his wife, Alice; two sons, Eugene of Wauwatosa and Robert J., Green Bay; three daughters, Vivian G., Manitowoc, Mrs. Alice O'Brien, La Crosse and Sister Mary Matthew, Chicago; five sisters, Mrs. Nick Winkel, Port Washington; Mrs. Arthur Hatfield, Alhambra, Calif.; Mrs. Chris Scharenbrock, Sheboygan; Mrs. Harold Vandehey, Baldwin Park, Calif.; and Miss Gertrude Stiefvater, Milwaukee; two brothers, Joseph, Salem, S.D.; and Edward, Port Washington.

Services were held at 9:00 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 13 at Holy Innocence Catholic Church in Manitowoc and he was laid to rest there.

Among those who attended the funeral were Mrs. James Syth, Jim Falls; Mrs. Walter Stabnow Sr., Neillsville; Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Lindner, daughters Joan and Tessie, Mrs. Greg Rogillio and L.A. Kitzhaber.
