Gehrke, Orin (18 JUL 1929 - 23 DEC 2013)

Orin Gehrke, 84, Zephyrhills, Fla., formerly of Spencer, died on Monday, Dec. 23, 2013. Funeral services were held on Friday, Jan. 3, at the Whitfield Funeral Home in Zephyrhills.

Orin Gehrke was born on July 18, 1929, in Clark County, to Lenard and Margaret (nee Knoll) Gehrke. He received his education in Spencer schools. He was a member of the 11th Airborne stationed at Fort Campbell, Ky. He married Arlene Jacobi on Sept. 19, 1953, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Spencer. They moved to Florida in the late 1950s, and had four children.

Survivors include his wife, Arlene; one daughter, Kay; two sons, Clifford (Darlene) and Lenard; four grandchildren, Drew, Julie, Nathan and Kayla; one great-granddaughter, Violet Spurlock; two sisters-in-law, Lorena Gehrke and Charlotte Jackson; and nephews and nieces.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Corey, in infancy; a brother, Russell; a brother-in-law, Lee Jackson;, a sister-in-law, Joyce; and two nephews, Wayne Gehrke and Randy Jackson.
