Granton (26 August 1971)

Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Ayala and family, Chicago, returned home last Sunday after spending two weeks with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Lyle Fero. During their visit, the Ayalas and Feros traveled to the Twin Cities and also took a sight-seeing trip through northern Wisconsin.

Mrs. Otto Schmidtke and her sister, Mrs. Norman Freedlund, drove to Hancock last Wednesday where they visited with their aunt and uncle, Mr. and Mrs. Delbert Holmes.

Mrs. Fred Steinich of Menomonee Falls is visiting with her mother, Mrs. Bert Hayden. Callers recently at the Hayden home included Mrs. Ray Dorst of California on Monday, Mrs. Dana Johnson on Wednesday, and Mr. and Mrs. Darwin Graves of Neillsville and Mr. and Mrs. Charles Hawley and baby, Merrillan, on Friday evening.

Mr. and Mrs. Otto A. Schmidtke and family of Stratford visited Sunday with his mother, Mrs. Otto Schmidtke.

Mr. and Mrs. Edward Wegner and Duane and Mr. and Mrs. Ron Wegner and Michelle visited in Pittsville Thursday evening with Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Kiesling and helped Jerry Winch celebrate his birthday.

Picnickers Sunday at the home of Mrs. C. A. Paulson and daughter, Joyce, Pleasant Ridge, included Mr3s. Ethel Berg, Miss Mabel Williams and Mr. and Mrs. William Schmidtke. Mrs. Paulson’s brother, Lester Chapman of Santa Rosa, Cal., also was present.

Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Pietenpol spent last Weekend with his sister and her husband, Mr. and Mrs. John Salzer, at Wausau.

The New York Homemakers gathered at the Roger Tyler home Sunday afternoon for a 4:30 cookout.

Mr. and Mrs. LaVern Vanderwyst returned Friday after an approximate three-week stay in Germany, where they attended the marriage of their son Ralph, and the former Miss Mariele Dieckhoff.

Weekend visitors at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Van L. Kayser were their son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Allan Kayser, of Waterloo.

Visitors Sunday at the Edward Wegner home were their daughter, Diane, of Stevens Point, and two other friends Mary Ann and John Cross.

Mr. and Mrs. William Schmidtke plan to attend a Stevens’ family reunion Saturday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Ross Stevens on Rt. 2 Spencer.

Members of the Granton Women’s Civic club presented garden bouquets to teachers and other staff members of the Granton Public Schools early this week. The bouquets are a traditional back-to-school welcome from the club women.

Margo, Billy, and Lee Ganther attended Tom Elmhorst’s wedding Saturday at Bowler. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Frederick Elmhorst of Rt. 1 Granton.
