Vine, Algie (9
September 1895 - 4 September 1971)
Algie Vine, 75, of Milwaukee, a former
Greenwood resident, died Saturday morning in a Milwaukee hospital where he was
admitted the day before.
Funeral services were held Tuesday from Grace
United Methodist Church with the Rev. Eugene Antrim officiating. Burial was made
in the Greenwood Cemetery.
Mr. Vine, the son of Augustus and Elizabeth
(Smith) Vine was born September 9, 1895, in Greenwood. He had been blind since
age 16. He was a graduate of the school for the handicapped in Janesville and
was employed in a factory at Wauwatosa. He retired 12 years ago and continued to
live at the school until four years ago, when he went to the Sunrise Nursing
home in Milwaukee. He never married.
Mr. Vine is survived by three
sisters, Mrs. Hugh (Esther) Christie and Mrs. Edwin (Fern) Abel of Greenwood and
Mrs. Ed (Nina) Noah of Oildale, Calif.; and three brothers, Roy of Evansville,
and Hugh and Chester both of Janesville.
