Lillian T. Pernsteiner, 93, Medford, died
surrounded by her family on Friday, Dec. 27 at Memorial Nursing and Rehab Center
in Medford, where she had resided the past three years.
Funeral services
will be held on Wednesday, Jan. 1 at 2 p.m. at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in
Medford, with Father Gerard Willger and Deacon Joseph Stefancin officiating.
Interment of her cremated remains will take place at a later date at Holy Rosary
Catholic Cemetery in Medford.
Pallbearers were her grandsons, Zachary
and Jeremy Zenner, Elliot and McKenzie Robida, Nick and Jacob Pernsteiner and
Aaron Raffeet.
Visitation will be held at Hemer Funeral Home in Medford
on Wednesday starting at 11 a.m., with a worship sing along and prayer time from
1 to 1:40 p.m.
The former Lillian Spreen was born on June 22, 1920 in the
Town of Hammel to the late William F. and Mary M. (Skabroud) Spreen. She
attended Meadow Brook School in the Town of Hammel, was a graduate of Medford
High School and received her teaching degree from the University of
Wisconsin-Stevens Point.
On June 1, 1944 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church,
she married Alvin A. Pernsteiner, who preceded her in death on December 26,
2001. She taught in many country schools in the area for more than 25 years,
then worked at Weather Shield as a laborer for about five years, then at Ben
Franklin until her retirement. She played accordion, guitar and piano in the
late 1930s, and she and her twin, Lydia, performed in the area and on the radio.
She was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church where she was in the choir
for 30 years, and was a teacher and tutor. She enjoyed singing, dancing, playing
the piano, gardening and socializing.
She is survived by a son, Terry
(Melissa) Pernsteiner of Champlain, MN; five daughters, Dr. Carol Pernsteiner of
McKinney, TX, Sharon (Marcus Rafeet) Pernsteiner of Milwaukee, Cindy (Jerry)
Klein of Issaquah, WA, Sue (John) Zenner of Medford and Mary (Randy) Robida of
Hudson; five siblings, her twin sister, Lydia Meyer, William (Ellen) Spreen and
Elroy (Lorna) Spreen, all of Medford, Sylvia Spreen of New Rockford, ND, and
Bernice (Mark) Hirsch of Sparta; 12 grandchildren, Zachary and Jeremy (Chelsea)
Zenner, Lindsey (Justin) Mayer, Amber and Aaron Raffeet, Elyse (Isaiah Dixon),
Elliot, McKenzie and Emily Robida, and Nicholas, Jacob and Samantha Pernsteiner;
and four great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, she
was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Clifford Meyer.
In lieu of
flowers, memorials can be made to her family to be designated at a later date.
