Lindgren, Ronald (1940? -
3 JAN 2014)
Ronald Lindgren died on Friday, January 3, 2014, at his home
in Owen, WI.
He is survived by his wife, Kathy, his three daughters:
Ronda Goessl (Allan Samplowski) (Curtiss), Anna (Michael) Rosemeyer (Thorp),
Candace Lindgren (Chicago); his six grandchildren: Christopher Goessl (Owen),
Amber (Steven) Reynolds (Wausau), Jason Goessl (Owen), Justin, Andrew, and
Caitlin Rosemeyer (Thorp), and one great-grandchild: Taylon Goessl (Owen).
Ron was born in Eau Claire, WI to Vaner and Anna (Stabnow) Lindgren of Owen.
He was a 1958 graduate of Owen-Withee High School. He proudly served in the Army
on active duty during the Vietnam War and upon his discharge in 1963, he
continued to serve in the National Guard.
Ron married Kathy in September
of 1964 in Chicago, IL where they lived until 1972 when he returned to his
hometown and opened his service station in town. In 1975 he opened Ron’s Repair
Service at his home in rural Owen and ran it until 2013 when he was forced to
officially “retire”. Ron never met a “stranger” and was always quick to offer a
helping hand. He prided himself on never having to advertise his business but
relied on “reputation”.
He has been an active member of the American
Legion and of the Veterans of Foreign Wars for numerous years. He served as
commander of Post 2227 in Colby, WI for 14 years. Ron helped establish the Clark
County Area Veteran’s Council in September of 1992. He was a staunch supporter
of the High Ground in Neillsville and various Veteran concerns.
He was
proud to serve as the Town Chairman for the Town of Green Grove for several
terms and put his experience and knowledge to good use in that capacity.
Ron loved spending time with family and friends joking, telling stories,
diagnosing car troubles, and helping any way he could. He especially enjoyed
watching his grandchildren grow up and spending time with them.
He was
preceded in death by his parents and his brothers, Thomas Lindgren and Jerry
Lindgren. He is survived by his siblings: Bernard (Edna) Lindgren (Loyal), Gwen
(Tom) Besnett (Minnesota), Karen (Donald) Lampi (Abbotsford), Cala Frey
(Dorchester), Peter (Linda) Lindgren (Rhinelander), 25 nieces and nephews, and
numerous great- nieces and nephews. Ron will be missed dearly by all!
Services will be held at the Missionary Baptist Church in Greenwood, WI, at 11
AM, Thursday, January 9, 2014.
In Lieu of flowers donations can be made
to the Clark County Area Veteran’s Council, Dan Plewa, President, Thorp, WI.
