Krokson, Axel Ferdinand (30 OCT 1874 – 27 FEB 1942)

Axel Ferdinand Krokson, son of John and Ingud Krokson was born October 30, 1874 at Bleking, Sweden and passed away at the Wisconsin General Hospital at Madison at 11:35 p.m., Friday, February 27th at the age of 67 years, 2 months and 28 days.

Mr. Krokson came to the United States with his parents at the age of 16 years, settling at Greenwood.

On November 15, 1910 he was married to Franny Seibold. They made their home in Greenwood until 920 when they moved to Cornell, where he has been employed at the Cornell Wood Product Co., for the past 21 years. In 1940 he became a member of the 20 year club of that company. Mr. Krokson retired last fall due to ill health.

On September 11 he entered the Wisconsin General Hospital at Madison where he has had several operations and treatments. He became seriously ill on Friday and passed away that same evening just one hour before his son’s arrival at Madison.

He leaves to mourn his loss two sons, Albert and Elmer, five brothers, Victor, Morris and Ernest of Greenwood; Fred of Minneapolis, and Oscar of Park Rapids, Minn. His father and mother preceded him in death in 1917 and 1927 respectively as did a brother Martin in 1920 and a sister Mrs. Clara Borseth in 1938, also a sister and brother in Sweden many years ago.

Mrs. Krokson passed away August 27, 1935 with the same dreadful disease that took her husband, cancer.

Mr. Krokson will be sadly missed by all who knew him as he was a quiet, home loving father and friend.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, March 4 at 2 p.m. from Our Saviors Lutheran Church, Rev. Alexander Thompson officiating.

Pallbearers were: Archie Coggins, Tory Stein, John Thon, Thomas Vasseur, John Capaul and Morris Semerall fellow works of Mr. Krokson’s.

Internment was made at the Cornell Cemetery beside his wife.

Those from away who attended the funeral were: Mr. Fred Krokson, of Minneapolis, Mr. and Mrs. Donald Drew and son Jack of Alma; Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Laabs and daughters, Marletta and Dolores of Stanley, Mr. and Mrs. Albert Stiebe of Abbotsford; Mr. and Mrs. Victor Krokson, Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Krokson, Roy Krokson, Morris, Krokson, Hubert Kuehn, John Arends, Mr. and Mrs. William Seidelman and son Romaine, Mrs. Sidney Heidrich, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Smith and daughter Joan, Mr. and Mrs. John Seibold, Andrew Seibold and Mrs. Adolph Geisler and son Ervin all of Greenwood.
