Sandberg, Karen Jean (Marriage - 21 August 1971)

Miss Karen Jean Sandberg and John Stephen Foster, both of Milwaukee, were married Saturday, August 21, in a 4 p.m. double-ring ceremony performed at the United Pioneer Presbyterian Church, Marinette, by the Rev. Fr. James Feeley and the Rev. Charles Richy.

Two hundred guests gathered in the church decorated with white gladioli, apricot straw flowers and white mums for the occasion. Organist for the ceremony was Tim Martell. Mrs. James England was the soloist. A reception was held at the Little River Country Club.

Mr. and Mrs. Edward H. Sandberg of Marinette are the parents of the bride. She graduate from Marinette High School in 1968, attended the University of Wisconsin, and graduated in 1970 from Patricia Stevens Career College. The groom is the son of Dr. and Mrs. John W. Foster of Neillsville. He is a senior in the School of Journalism at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, attended Marquette University and will return to law school, at Marquette.

Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore an empire-waist pearl-trimmed gown of white crepe fashioned with long sleeves and a stand up collar. Her floor-length veil of white bridal illusion was held by a wreath headpiece of assorted straw flowers. She carried a bouquet of assorted strawflowers, ferns and white baby’s breath.

The bride’s honor attendant was Rita Posselt. Bridesmaids were Eileen Bergemann and Carol Frinzi, both of Milwaukee, and Nancy Sandberg of Marinette. The bridal attendants wore empire-waist, white brad-trimmed gowns of apricot crepe styled with long sleeves. They carried colonial bouquets of assorted straw flowers and baby’s breath and wore wreath headpieces. Julie Gordon was the flower girl.

Bestman was Jeff Foster. Groomsmen were Dave Gilbertson, Appleton, Leonard Frinzi, Milwaukee, and Greg Foster. Guests were seated by Steve Kunze, Mike Stang and Jeff Gordon.

Following a wedding trip to upper Michigan and Canada, the newlyweds plan to make their home in Milwaukee, where the bride is employed at Columbia Hospital and the groom will continue his studies.
